Principal's Welcome

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the Flagami family, I would like to welcome you to the 2008-2009 school year.  As an ‘A’ school, we are continuing to celebrate our academic accomplishments. Given the constant hard work and dedication of the teachers, students and parents, we anticipate another successful year of teaching and learning.

As parents, it is essential that you take an active role in your child’s educational program.  There are many ways you can become involved: join the PTA, be an active volunteer, participate in parent-teacher conferences and workshops that will be offered throughout the year and maintain close contact with your child’s teacher(s).  Ask questions about his/her progress and about what you can do to support learning at home. Additionally, I strongly encourage you to utilize the parent portal that is available through the internet. The Parent Portal tool provides you with access to your child's grades, attendance, SPOTsuccess awards and important District documents. You may obtain your parent identification number (PIN) in the main office (see attached flyer).

As you are aware, the District has a very strong policy regarding student attendance.  As a parent, your most critical duty is to ensure that your child attends school each and every day, on-time.  Students with poor attendance are at-risk and are deprived of the opportunity to learn.  We are fortunate that we can support you in these efforts by providing health services to our students through our HealthConnect clinic.

Please take the time to read the important information contained within the Parent/Student Handbook and discuss with your child the essential components that apply to them.  In closing, we look forward to working together to provide the best education for our children,

Carta de Bienvenida

En nombre de la familia de Flagami, deseo bienvenirlos al nuevo curso escolar 2008-2009.  Continuamos celebrando nuestros logros habiendo obtenido la calificación de escuela “A”.  Dada la dedicación y ardua labor de nuestros maestros, alumnos y padres, anticipamos otro exitoso año de enseñanza y aprendizaje.

Es esencial que, como padres, tomen un papel activo en el programa educacional de sus hijos.  Hay muchas maneras de involucrarse:  únanse al PTA (Asociación de Padres y Maestros), voluntarice su tiempo, participe en conferencias de padres y maestros y en cursillos que serán ofrecidos durante el curso escolar y manteniendo una relación cercana con los maestros de sus hijos.  Hagan preguntas sobre el pogreso escolar de sus hijos y sobre cómo puede apoyar el proceso de apredizaje desde la casa.  Además, les aliento a que utilicen el “Portal” para padres, disponible en el sítio internético.  Esta herramienta les ofrece acceso a las calificaciones, asistencia, los reconociemientos “SPOT Success”, y documentos importantes de nuestro Distrito escolar.  Usted puede obtener su número de identificación (PIN) para acceso al Portal, en la oficina de la escuela.

Como ustedes saben, nuestro Distrito tiene una política bien vigorosa en lo que se referiere a la asistencia escolar.  Como padres, su deber primordial es asegurarse que sus hijos vengan a clases todos los días puntualmente. Los alumnos con mala asistencia están a riesgo, y privados de la opurtunidad de aprender.  Nosotros tenemos la suerte de poder ayudarles en esta tarea proveyéndoles a nuestros alumnos servicios de salud, a través de nuestra clínica “HealthConnect”.

Por favor, hagan tiempo para leer la información que les brindamos en el manual para padres y alumnos, y discutan con sus hijos las partes que les concierne a ellos.  Para concluir, espero que trabajemos juntos pare proveer la mejor educación posible a nuestros hijos.
